The Anagrama de Crónica/Fundación Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Award (formerly the Anagrama/UANL de Crónica Sergio González Rodríguez Award), is annual and will be awarded in the month of January, during the Hay Cartagena de Indias, in Colombia.
The main objective of the Anagrama de Crónica Award is to be a stimulus for narrative journalism in Spanish and to reward the work of the best chroniclers who write in the language. With the 2023 call, the Anagrama de Crónica/ Fundación Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Award, which began its journey in 2019 as the Anagrama/UANL de Crónica Sergio González Rodríguez Award, entered a new stage. The memory of the great Mexican journalist and writer Sergio González Rodríguez, in whose memory the award began, is still very present and his extraordinary work continues to encourage the promotion and promotion of current voices in the chronicle. The award has the support of the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation and an alliance with the Hay Festival, in whose Cartagena de Indias 2024 edition this ruling is announced.
Award Information
- The author of the winning work will receive, upon signing the contract, the duration of which will be 15 years, the amount of 10,000 euros as copyright advances, which is stipulated at 10 percent of the price of the work.
- For successive reprints of the work, the author will also receive 10 percent of the sales price of the copies sold. In the case of a paperback edition, the author will receive 6 percent on the sales price of the copies sold and 25 percent on the publisher’s net income for digital editions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Journalists and writers from the Ibero-American field who present an unpublished chronicle book in the Spanish language may attend this annual call. It is an essential requirement that the work is not participating in any other award and that the author has the free disposal of all exploitation rights over the work in any form and in its different modalities.
- The works should develop a single chronicle, or a set of chronicles, grouped organically. The minimum length will be 100 pages, in 12-point Arial type. There will be no formal limitation, although those works that represent an opening in the literary concept of chronicle will be especially valued.
- The original document must be identified with the title of the work, and the works may be signed with a pseudonym.
