In order to promote quality and excellence in the practice of the journalistic profession, as well as to distinguish outstanding journalists in the State, professionals in the field are invited to participate in the XXVIII edition of the Jalisco Journalism Award.

Prize Information
- Of the Awards
- The prize consists of $70,000.00 Mexican pesos (plus the Tax on Lotteries, Raffles, Draws, Games with Betting and Contests of all kinds, established by the Treasury Law of the State of Jalisco) and the Emisario award (work of the sculptor Diego Martínez Negrete) , which can only be claimed during the awards ceremony.
- In addition, a scholarship will be awarded to the winners to pursue a continuing education program (courses, workshops or diplomas) of their choice at the universities that make up the Board of Directors of the Jalisco Journalism Prize.
- Recognition of Students
- A recognition will be granted, a financial prize of $25,000.00 Mexican pesos (plus the Tax on Lotteries, Raffles, Sweepstakes, Gambling Games and Contests of all kinds, established by the Finance Law of the
- State of Jalisco), the “Emissary” award and a scholarship to study a continuing education program (courses, workshops or diplomas) at one of the Universities that make up the Board of Directors of their choice to the student of Communication, Journalism or related careers who wins this call.
- Recognition of the Journalist Career
- “The American Alarm Clock”
- The prize consists of $85,000.00 Mexican pesos (plus the Tax on Lotteries, Raffles, Sweepstakes, Games with Bets and Contests of all kinds, established by the Jalisco State Treasury Law).
- The people nominated must be referents in the profession; have a minimum of 25 years of journalistic work with incidence in Jalisco; having stood out throughout his career for the depth of his research, his mastery of genres and situations, and the contribution of his journalistic work to public debate.
- Proposals may be submitted by citizens, universities, public or private institutions, civil society organizations or trade unions. All sectors of society are invited to actively participate by nominating journalists, women and men, who have dedicated their lives to journalism with integrity and honesty.
- The deliberating jury will choose the winner of this recognition in strict adherence to the parameters established in this call.
- “The American Alarm Clock”
Criteria
- Journalists from any media outlet in the State of Jalisco may participate (digital media or specialized platforms, as well as social networks must have been in existence for at least one year, have original production, and have a regular publication periodicity).
- Both unitary products and those that were made as a series may participate.
- In Photojournalism, journalistic productions of both still photography and photography in motion are contemplated.
- The topics discussed must be related to social issues and problems in Jalisco.
- The works of the applicants must have been disseminated between the 26th of August 2022 and August 25, 2023.
- A maximum of two jobs can be delivered per person (including those in which they participate as a team).
- Works published in more than one format will participate only in one category.
