City of Subiaco Photographic Awards (Australia)

Categories

• Subiaco
  • Entries for the Subiaco category must have been taken within local government area of the City of Subiaco. This includes the following areas:
    • Subiaco
    • parts of Shenton Park
    • Jolimont
    • Daglish
• Mobile
  • The Mobile category has been introduced to embrace the growing world of phone cameras and mobile phone photography and is open to any photograph taken with a camera phone.
• Open
  • The Open category has no entry restrictions. It is open to any photograph that does not meet the requirements of the Subiaco or Mobile phone categories.
• AI
  • This catagory acknowledges the emerging form of Artificial Intelligence photography and is the only category where AI technology will be accepted.
• Photographers can submit four (4) photographs into the awards. These can be entered into the same category or different categories. The same photograph cannot be entered into two categories.

Prize Information

• Total prize pool of over $5,000 in cash and prizes
  • Subiaco Category Prize: $700
    • All Subiaco Category finalists are eligible.
  • Open Category Prize: $700
    • All Open Category finalists are eligible.
  • Mobile Category Prize: $700
    • All Mobile Category finalists are eligible.
  • AI Category Prize: $700
    • All AI Category finalists are eligible.
  • Grand Prize: $1,500
    • Finalists across all categories (Subiaco, Open, Mobile, AI) are also eligible for the Grand Prize.
  • Subiaco Resident’s Prize: $400
    • Finalists across all categories (Subiaco, Open, Mobile, AI) who reside within the City of Subiaco will also be eligible for the Subiaco Resident’s Prize.
  • Youth Prize (ages 12 to 17 years): $250
    • Finalists across all categories (Subiaco, Open, Mobile, AI) aged between 12 and 17 are also eligible for the Youth Prize.
  • Kid’s Prize (ages 6 to 11): A book and photographs prize pack valued at $150
    • Finalists across all categories (Subiaco, Open, Mobile, AI) who are between 6 and 11 are also eligible for the Kid’s Prize.
  • People’s Choice Award: $100
    • All finalists’ images will be displayed at the Subiaco Library during the month of August 2024. All visitors will be invited to vote on the People’s Choice Award. The winner will be the image with the most votes.

Exhibition and Display

• Finalists in the 2024 Photographic Awards will have their work exhibited in the annual Photographic Awards exhibition.
  • When: Monday 12 August to Sunday 8 September
  • Where: Subiaco Library, 237 Rokeby Road, Subiaco

Eligibility Criteria

• Submissions are open to all residents of the Perth metropolitan area (defined as having a postcode including and between 6000 – 6199).
• Photographers must be over the age of six. Age is taken at the time of entry into the awards.
• Photographers between the ages of six (6) and seventeen (17) are required to complete and return the parent/guardian consent form to the City before their entry is finalised. Adult finalists are required to complete a similar form when delivering their work to the library. City of Subiaco employees are not eligible to enter the competition.
