Entries are now open for the Viviane Esders Prize to reward a photographer who has been active for over 40 years, demonstrating personal writing and an assertive artistic approach.
Preference is given to files presenting an approach to questioning the image, a unique writing style of non-documentary reflection and a strong commitment.
The grant is particularly aimed at photographers whose activity cannot continue without significant financial support.
Award Details
- The winner will be awarded a grant of €50,000.
- The winner commits to setting aside €10,000 of the prize money to produce a book on his or her work (monograph). The book must be published no later than December 31, 2025.
- The winner will be free to choose the publisher. It is understood that the Prix Viviane Esders is not involved in the production and additional financing of the book.
Eligibility Criteria
- The call for entries is open to professional photographers over 60 years of age.
- The prize will focus on the photographer’s artistic and creative approach, both on narrative, aesthetic a technical level.
- The applicant must be:
- An independent photographer with a proven track record of at least 30 years
- Active and not represented by an agency or a collective in the civil year of application
- Of European nationality
