The International Women in Photo Association (IWPA) in collaboration with the Tbilisi Art Fair (TAF) has announced the IWPA & TAF photography challenge 2024 for women photographers.
TAF is an international contemporary art fair focused on young and emerging artists from the wider Europe. TAF’s mission is to generate visibility and opportunities for artists and galleries, enhance professional skills and support sustainable mechanisms for mobility and cross borders projects.
Committed to showcasing the work of women photographers since 2016, IWPA has recently expanded its reach to eastern neighboring countries and opened a new branch in Tbilisi, Georgia. In light of the commitments to fostering gender equality, this photography challenge encompassing six countries in the region –aims to provide a platform for women to share their daily challenges and victories, considering the complex socio-economic, political, and human rights landscape.
The winners will be selected by an international jury and be presented at the Tbilisi Art Fair April 2024 running from April 11th-14th.
Prize Information
- IWPA contest Prize consists in an exhibition at the Tbilisi Art Fair April 2024 for the laureate, 2 finalists and if decided so, the winner of the special mention. Other exhibitions abroad may follow.
Contest Process
- The following documentation must be attached:
- A coherent series of 7-10 photographs in JPEG format
- A statement on the submitted series
- As short Bio (300 words max) with contact information
- Photographs must be a consistent set meaning that images must work together as a whole.
- The weight of each file should not exceed 3 MB. The name of the author should not be included in the titles of the images or attached fields.
- Should the participant’s work be selected for the exhibition, the participant will supply to IWPA on request high-resolution files that are suitable for print.
- Any incomplete application will not be accepted.
- In compliance with the provisions of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data and its complementary regulations, IWPA informs that the personal data provided by the participant, including the email address, will be handled according to French RGPD rules.
- Participants will receive an email confirming of their application
- The Finalists & the Laureate and special mention recipients will be informed about the final results by email and announced on the website as well as social media
- Should the participant’s work be selected for the exhibition, the participant will supply to IWPA on request high-resolution files that are suitable for print.
- IWPA supports the prints, which will be printed in a professional lab with digital printing process. Dimensions can vary depending of exhibition space.
Eligibility Criteria
- This challenge is open to all women photographers, and those who identify as such, from any field of photography, amateurs or professionals, originating or based in the Eastern Partnership Countries: Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Armenia, Belarus.
- Minimum age is 18 years. If the participant lives in a country where legal age of majority is above 18 years, the participant will obtain the consent of a parent/guardian to participate in the contest.
