The human rights initiative “Journalists for Tolerance” announces a competition for journalists and media editors – J4T awards.
The competition is organized with the aim of improving the professional skills of media workers in the field of equality and non-discrimination, to promote the development of social journalism, and to increase the positive visibility of vulnerable groups of the population of Belarus.
Nominations
- Material on equality and non-discrimination of vulnerable groups
- The nomination accepts articles/photo reports/video materials/radio programs that promote creativity and non-discrimination of vulnerable social groups in Belarusian society, which were published from November 1, 2022 to October 31, 2023.
- One author can submit no more than three works to the competition.
- The winner will be determined by a jury consisting of editors of Belarusian mass media.
- The winners of the competition will receive certificates of honor and a special prize. The winner will have the opportunity to take part in an educational trip to one of the European countries in 2024.
- Editorial of the year
- In the nomination, the editorial staff of the mass media, which in 2022 promoted the ideas of equality and inclusion in its materials, spoke about the problems faced by representatives of vulnerable groups in Belarus, as well as during forced relocation.
- Nominees may be nominated by representatives of the civil and journalistic community, as well as readers/viewers/listeners of the media.
- The winner will be determined by voting among human rights NGOs working with vulnerable population groups. The winning editor of the competition will receive an honorary certificate and a special prize.
- Person of the year
- The laureate is determined by members of the Human Rights Initiative “Journalists for Tolerance” team.
