Nominations open for Arab and Visual Media Awards

The Dubai Press Club is excited to announce its Arab Media Award.

Categories

  • Arab Media Award
    • Investigative Journalism Category: The award is given to the best journalistic investigation that deals with topics of interest to public opinion with the aim of spreading awareness, whether they are humanitarian, sports, cultural, social, or other investigations.
    • Political Journalism Category: The award is given to the best political analysis or investigation that addresses a current issue closely related to the prevailing conditions in the Arab region, contributing to spreading political awareness and knowledge.
    • Best Columnist Category: It is awarded to a columnist or article writer who publishes his work in an Arab print or electronic newspaper (daily or weekly) in appreciation of the thought he presents through the newspaper column that has a positive impact on societently.
    • Economic Journalism Category: The award is given to the best economic analysis or investigay and readers, provided that the writer continues to publish regularly and consisttion that addresses local and global economic topics that contribute to spreading economic awareness and knowledge.
  • Visual Media Award
    • Best Economic Program Category: This award is given to the best specialized economic program, broadcast on an Arab satellite channel, provided that the program is comprehensive in its content, objective in its coverage, and based on reliable and updated facts and figures from official sources, with the content enhanced by analysis and explanation in order to ensure that the information reaches the public in a simplified manner.
    • Best Social Program Category: This award is given to the best television program broadcast on one of the Arab satellite channels, and it deals with community and family affairs, including topics related to women, children, and youth, as well as programs of a humanitarian nature.
    • Best Sports Program Category: The award is given to the best sports program broadcast on one of the Arab satellite channels, provided that it keeps pace with the development of the sports movement in the Arab region, while reviewing the most important issues and topics of interest to the public within various sports, as well as contributing to spreading sports culture and its lofty ethics, and introducing the extent of its importance. Avoid fanaticism in presentation and handling.
    • Best Cultural Program Category: The award is given to the best program specialized in cultural affairs and is broadcast on one of the Arab satellite channels. It deals with topics related to various creative aspects, including the fields of arts and literature in its various formats and courses, provided that the program takes into account a balance in the presentation between depth of treatment, analysis, and conscious simplification in language and style the offer.
    • Best Documentary Category: The award is given to documentary works distinguished by their style of presentation and creativity in preparation and execution, provided that the work is an original television production in the Arabic language, and the subject is addressed in a manner characterized by comprehensiveness and clarity, and the work is enhanced by adding information, facts, documents, evidence and testimonies.

      • Quality of the topic and its relevance to society and its impact on it.
      • Efforts made in preparing the investigation and documenting information from its original sources.
      • Objectivity in presenting and presenting all opinions and avoiding the journalist’s subjective opinions.
      • Additional criteria:
        • Field effort
        • Employing journalistic tools that attract the reader (infographics, pictures, etc.)
    • Political Journalism Category
      • Importance of the topic and its relevance to the current conditions in the Arab region/world.
      • Analytical and documentary effort and informational richness.
      • Objectivity in presenting and presenting all opinions and avoiding the journalist’s subjective opinions.
      • Presentation and handling style and depth of idea.
      • Additional criteria:
        • Field effort
        • Employment of journalistic tools that attract the reader (infographics, pictures, etc.)
    • Best Columnist Category
      • Award is granted by decision of the award’s Board of Directors.
    • Economic Journalism Category
      • The importance of the topic.
      • Research effort and extent of presenting updated facts and figures
      • Comprehensive content and depth of analysis.
      • Additional criteria:
        • Field effort
        • Employing journalistic tools that attract the reader (infographics, pictures, etc.)
  • Visual Media Award
    • Best Economic Program Category
      • The extent of the program’s spread and positive resonance supported by data.
      • The program’s ability to access decision-making sources, experts and specialists to obtain information.
      • The extent of the use of modern media and technologies in presenting the content.
      • Research and analytical effort enhanced by facts and figures.
    • Best Social Program Category
      • The importance of the topics covered in the program.
      • Research effort in preparation and submission.
      • Presentation style, handling, and techniques.
      • Positive influence and promotion of societal values.
    • Best Sports Program Category
      • Research effort in preparation and submission.
      • Objective presentation of sporting events, avoiding bias and fanaticism.
      • The extent to which modern technologies and media are used in presenting content.
      • The importance of the topics covered in the program.
    • Best Cultural Program Category
      • The importance of the topics covered in the program.
      • Presentation style and how to address the topics raised.
      • Research effort in preparation and submission.
      • Comprehensiveness of content and completeness of aspects of treatment.
    • Best Documentary Category
      • The importance of the topics covered in the work.
      • Comprehensiveness of presentation and depth of coverage.
      • Creativity in preparation and implementation.
      • Research effort and information gathering.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Participating works must be published in one of the media outlets, whether printed, visual or digital, during the period from March 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
  • Participation is permitted with serialized materials, and a maximum of five episodes may be submitted.
  • You can participate individually or as a team in the Arab Journalism Award categories.
  • Participation in the Visual Media Award categories is limited to media institutions.
  • The General Secretariat, represented by the Dubai Press Club, has the right to dispose of the works and use them for educational, publishing, and publicizing purposes of the award, and for non-profit purposes.
