Are you a journalist, writer, photographer, or storyteller passionate about climate change in the Caribbean? If yes, then this is your chance to submit applications for the Caribbean Climate Journalism Awards.
This competition aims to recognise and celebrate outstanding journalism focused on climate change and environmental issues within the Caribbean region. They invite passionate journalists, storytellers, and communicators to participate and showcase their work, driving awareness and inspiring positive action in the face of climate challenges.
Categories
- Best Climate Justice Story:Â Recognises a journalist who has successfully drawn out unique climate justice angles for telling the human side of Caribbean stories that have not been told on a large scale before.
- Best Investigative Climate Journalism:Â Recognising outstanding investigative reporting that has uncovered critical issues related to climate change in the Caribbean region.
- Best Youth Climate Reporter (age 18-24):Â Honouring the exceptional work of young journalists who have contributed significantly to climate reporting.
- Best Solutions-Oriented Climate Reporting:Â Acknowledging journalism that focuses on practical solutions and innovations addressing climate challenges in the Caribbean.
- Best Climate Photography:Â This category recognizes exceptional photographs that capture the essence of climate change and its effects in the Caribbean region. Photographers who have visually conveyed the urgency and importance of climate issues should be celebrated.

- Each award will be valued at USD $400.

Eligibility Criteria
- This competition is open to journalists, writers, photographers, videographers, and multimedia creators from the Caribbean region, eager to contribute to climate change and environmental conservation discourse. Whether you are a seasoned professional or an emerging talent, they encourage you to submit your best work and be part of this movement.
- Submitted story should have been published in either 2022 or 2023
- Be 18-35 years old (please note that although this age group is listed as priority, they have and they may consider applicants outside of this group, so please do not allow this to keep you from throwing your hat in the ring)
- All applicants must be Caribbean nationals and be working in climate journalism in the Caribbean region.
