• Magazine Journalism (longform; print or online)
• Broadcast Journalism (television, radio or podcast; at least 20 minutes in total package length)
• Opinion & Analysis Journalism (commentary and analysis in any medium)

Funding Information

• Hillman Prize winners will be awarded a $5,000 honorarium and a certificate at our annual ceremony to be held in New York City on Tuesday May 6, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

• The contest is open to journalists globally, although work must have been widely accessible to a U.S. audience.
• Stories may be on any topic but they prioritize entries with U.S impact.
• You may nominate your own work or someone else’s.
• You may apply on your own, or be entered by your outlet/organization.
• There is no limit to the number of entries one outlet may make.
• There is no fee to enter.

Application Requirements

• A cover letter and TWO (2) copies of the book are all that are required. The cover letter should be 1-2 pages and summarize the content and impact of the book and explain why it deserves the prize according to the mission of the Sidney Hillman Foundation.
