Deadline: 18 March 2024
The Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University is accepting nominations for its Reporting Award to underwrite the research and reporting for a significant work of journalism in any medium on an under-reported topic in the public interest.
The Institute urges applications from journalists with a substantial published or produced body of work on an underreported project in the public interest already in progress.
Awards Details
- The maximum award is twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500).
Eligibility Criteria
- The Competition is open to anyone age 21 and older. Entrants are not required to be published journalists but the Institute encourages applications from journalists with a proven track record.
- Applicants to the NYU Reporting Award may not apply to the Matthew Power Literary Reporting Award in the same year.
- International Applicants
- The Institute welcomes applications from international journalists; you do not need to be a U.S. citizen nor do you need to reside in the U.S. to be eligible.
- However, the work that the award supports must be in English and must be accepted for publication by a reputable media outlet with a wide circulation.
- The publication does not need to be U.S.-based, but it should be well known.
Ineligible
- Not eligible for the Competition are:
- NYU Affiliates and their immediate families;
- NYU graduates receiving degrees dated 2021 or thereafter; and journalists holding staff positions at established media outlets determined by the Committee to be ineligible because they are capable of funding such a project on their own.
