Deadline: 20 September 2024
The Women in Journalism is proud to announce its Georgina Henry Award to support the brightest new ideas with a £4,000 annual prize sponsored by Wiggin LLP.
The prize is used to support an initiative by the applicant. Applicants can be any age, working in either print or multimedia and the winner will also join the WIJ committee, and become an honorary Women in Journalism Fellow.
The judges will look for evidence of impactful journalism and real innovation either through new ideas or principles. Entries can include work from any journalistic discipline, including those working in video, audio, and written journalism.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be a woman working in the UK journalism industry, though preference will be given to those whose work is unsupported by a large media organization.
- Your project can be at any stage, but you must submit examples of previous work and any other relevant material. If shortlisted, you must be able to attend SOE Awards on 12th November where the winner will be announced. WIJ can help with costs where this is a barrier.
- Towards the start of the 2025 applications we’ll ask you to pay it forward by writing about your year and what difference the prize money has made. We’ll also ask you take part in a session to share your learnings with Women in Journalism members.
