he Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC) is seeking applications for the World Wildlife Day Photography Competition.
March 3 is World Wildlife Day and QPRC is celebrating their local wildlife and biodiversity with a photography competition.
World Wildlife Day is an international event hosted by the United Nations to celebrate the world’s plants, animals, and other living things, and acknowledge the contributions that wildlife makes to their lives and the planet. Australia is one of 17 mega-diverse countries, and a lot of wildlife is unique.
QPRC want you to showcase the fantastic biodiversity across the QPRC region. Get your cameras ready and go find something cool to photograph! It can be a plant, an animal, or even a mushroom! It just needs to be native to the QPRC region. What will you find?
Prizes Categories
- There are four age categories broken up into school year groups. Prizes include:
- Best Entry K-2: $100
- Best Entry 3-6: $100
- Best Entry 7-10: $100
- Best Entry 11-12: $100
- Best Overall Entry: $300
Eligibility Criteria
- Entry is open to all QPRC residents 18 years old or younger.
Rules
- The rules of the competition and the prize for the winner are as follows:
- Competition is open to participants attending school or of school age (4- 18 years) in the QPRC Local Government Area only.
- Participants are responsible for submitting their single entry in the Competition. c.
- The challenge is to capture a picture of wildlife or biodiversity endemic to the QPRC Local Government Area. This can include native animals, plants, fungi, and other living things.
- The picture cannot be obtained through manipulating or damaging the environment. Any picture that is taken after posing, handling, or touching wildlife will not be judged.
Conditions
- All entries must adhere to all terms and conditions listed herein.
- Entrants (Entrants) from residences within the QPRC local government area are eligible to enter. Entrants must be 18 years or younger.
- Entrants who are immediate family members of QPRC staff, Councillors, or anyone else connected in any way with the Competition are permitted to participate in the Competition but are ineligible for individual prizes.
- Participation in the competition is free (there is no entry fee). Entrants must supply their own equipment including camera or other photography device reasonably required to participate in the Competition.
- Participants can only submit one photo and related entry form for consideration in the Competition.
- Entry forms must include entrant and guardian details, the picture being entered in the competition, and the name of the submission.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason by the stipulated cut-off time.
