Applications open for APEC Photo Contest 2024

Over the years, the photo contest has also continuously attracted many promising and talented photographers to share their creative take on APEC’s host priorities and APEC’s work

Priorities

• Inspire them with your photography and interpretation of any one of the following APEC Peru 2024 theme of “Empower. Include. Grow” and priorities:
  • Trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth.
  • Innovation and digitalization to promote the transition to the formal and global economy.
  • Sustainable growth for resilient development, which seeks to promote energy transition.
• These priorities aim to drive sustainable and quality growth in the while empowering people and build resilience to future shocks and crises. Your photos paint a thousand words that can illustrate this endeavor. Snap and share sights from the Asia-Pacific region that help to tell this story.

Eligibility Criteria

• The APEC Photo Contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers.
• Participants must be citizens or permanent residents of the APEC member economies: Australia; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Chile; People’s Republic of China; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; Republic of Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; Philippines; Russia; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; United States; and Viet Nam.
• The photo can be taken using any kind of camera, including mobile phone.
• The photo must be taken in one or more APEC member economies. Participants need to include or tag the location of the photo in the online form and Instagram caption.
• Photo format can be square, portrait or landscape.
• All photos submitted through online form must be a high-resolution digital image file in JPEG format with minimum compression. Each image should not exceed 10 MB in file size.
• Minor digital manipulation (i.e., color enhancement, cropping) is allowed. Excessively manipulated photos are grounds for disqualification.
• Collage or photomontage will not be accepted.
• The photo must be an original work by the participant and was not submitted in other similar photo contests including previous editions of the APEC Photo Contest.
• The photo must not contain material that violates or infringes on another’s rights, including publicity and intellectual property rights.
• Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of three photos.
• Staff of the APEC Secretariat and their immediate family members, host economy organizing committee and its affiliates are not eligible to participate in the contest

Evaluation Criteria

• Each photo will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
  • interpretation and message of the photo based on APEC Peru 2024 priorities.
  • composition and quality.
  • creativity.
