The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has announced the Photography Contest for professional and amateur photographers.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) began holding photo contests in 2013 and ran until 2016. After a six-year break, PAGCOR revived the competition with bigger cash prizes at stake. Participants from past competitions as well as aspiring ones who are searching for a medium to show the images captured by their cameras and latest mobile devices are encouraged to join.
With the theme, “Harvest Time”, Photocon 2024 aims to highlight the country’s sources of agricultural, aquatic and botanical bounty. This project likewise hopes to honor the hardworking workers through the talented Filipino lensmen.
Theme
- “HARVEST TIME” is the theme for this year’s photography contest.
- ‘Harvest Time’ evokes a moment of fulfillment when people get rewarded for their months of toil. Work under the blazing sun or through pounding rain is hard on the body but is invigorating to the soul, and the culminating harvest is a triumph of the human spirit. It is a symbol of hope and a testament to the bounty of nature that photography enthusiasts must capture.
Categories
- The competition has three (3) categories:
- Conventional – This category covers photos taken using all types of digital cameras like Single Lens Reflex (SLR), compact, point and shoot, bridge, mirrorless and rugged.
- Mobile – This category covers photos taken using mobile devices with camera features like smartphones and tablets, action cameras, 360 cameras and the like.
- Drone – This category covers aerial photos taken using drone cameras.
Funding Information
- These will be narrowed down further to the grand winners – 8 for the conventional category who will each receive Php100,000 cash, and 8 for the mobile category who will take home Php50,000 cash each and 8 for the drone category who will be awarded Php50,000 cash each. The 24 non-winning finalists will get consolation prizes – P35,000 each for the conventional while P20,000 each for the mobile and drone categories. A special cash prize of P10,000 will also be given the “People’s Choice Award” photos for each category.
Eligibility Criteria
- This contest is open to all Filipino nationals who are at least 16 years old as of Januray 1, 2024.
- PAGCOR employees including their relatives up to the second degree of affinity and consanguinity are disqualified from joining the competition.
- Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of three (3) entries only. He/She has the option to submit three photos either under Conventional, Mobile or Drone category or submit one photo for each category.
- you may submit photos taken anywhere in the Philippines regardless of what region you are registered. The photos should have been taken from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024.
