Deadline: 17 September 2024
The Somalia Photo Contest is in its second week – keep those entries coming! Showcase your photographic skills and reveal the incredible talent of Somalia.
USAID is a long-standing friend and partner to the governments and people of Somalia. After decades of investing in and witnessing the country’s progress, they wanted to give the world a chance to see Somalia – its landscape, its people and its potential – through the eyes of Somalis.
Winning photographers will win cash prizes, and their photos will be featured in USAID Somalia communications products such as calendars, social media, banners and other products.
Categories
- All photos must be relevant to the below categories and must be taken within Somalia. USAID reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to the below categories:
- Development and Progress: Photos that show how Somalia has changed in a positive way. For example: infrastructure, trade, art, sports, etc. Photos should include people doing something (not just standing or looking at the camera. People should be active in their context). Can also include “before and after,” or “then and now” photos.
- Somali Landscape and Landmarks: Photos of cities and towns, beaches, savannah, flora and fauna, etc.
- Somali Culture and Heroes: Photos that demonstrate what it is to be Somali – can include dance, livelihoods, sports, food, textiles, art, fashion and photos of local or national heroes or of people that inspire you and are doing something extraordinary.
