the8fest Small Gauge Film Festival is seeking your 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm films and other small- gauge films for the Bageroo Programs.
the8fest presents films from Toronto, across Canada and from small-gauge creators and communities around the world. They want to see your films that have been shot on film, and can be projected on film.
Duration
- The festival will run from July 26 to July 29, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
- They accept films that have been shot on small-gauge (ex. Super8, Double8), as well as installations of the aforementioned format.
- They do not accept films that have been created with another format (ex. 16mm mixed with Super8, or Super8 mixed with digital footage).
- Films must be projected on film, through an analogue film projector. Either in the original format, a print, or a blow-up to 16mm. But remember: no original 16mm submitted to the8fest!
- If accepted, films must be sent to 1137 Dupont St at least a month before the festival.
- The festival will cover shipping (budget allowing) if shipping is a barrier to you. Films will be shipped back at no cost to the filmmaker.
- There are no limits to running times, but they prioritize shorter films.
- Maximum 3 submissions per filmmaker.
