Applications are now open for Very Short Film Festival (VSFF), a platform for Australian storytellers, celebrating diverse voices and contemporary stories from across the country.
They invite you to submit a short film created exclusively for VSFF. Whether you aim to inspire, challenge, or captivate, even the shortest films can make a big impact.
Categories
- Two categories are available:
- Open (19+)
- Junior (under 18, for school students)
Benefits
- Finalists receive mentoring from some of Australia’s top film industry professionals, along with flights and accommodation to attend the Premiere Gala Event and Screening. Films debut in front of a live audience and go on to feature in an Australian tour.
- Winners are awarded cash prizes and the exclusive Dorothy Awards, beautifully handcrafted by an Australian ceramicist.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any Australian resident, regardless of filmmaking experience, can participate. If you’re under 18, please make sure you have parental or guardian consent to enter.
Application Requirements
- Create a 2-5minute film incorporating the 2025 signature “Seed”—use it in dialogue, visuals, or as an idea to make it uniquely yours.
- Films must be original and premiered to the world through VSFF.
