The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites communicators to join a workshop on renewable energy in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh to improve awareness of the renewable energy landscape in Uttar Pradesh, and better inform the public about potential solutions to overcome the challenges it faces.
EJN will facilitate engagement between communicators, researchers, subject experts, policymakers and communities, providing an opportunity to gain knowledge and deepen understanding of the situation.
The workshop will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, from September 26-28, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications to participate in the workshop are open to communicators based in Uttar Pradesh from print, online, radio and television outlets. Communicators based outside Uttar Pradesh but working for outlets with large audiences in Uttar Pradesh are also eligible.
- The organizers will cover the cost of travel, accommodation, and meals of selected participants.
- The workshop will include a field trip to a suitable location.
- They especially encourage women, Dalit, Indigenous Peoples, persons living with disability and early- and mid-career professionals to apply.
- Applicants must:
- Commit to attending all days of the workshop.
- Have some experience reporting in one or more of the following areas:
- Energy
- Environment
- Business
- Science
- Understand and be able to communicate in English and/or Hindi.
- Demonstrate interest in renewable energy issues.
- Permit republication by the organizers of any output as a result of participation in the workshop.
