Apply for Rural Kansas Photography Contest – US

The Rural Kansas Photography Contest seeks captivating digital images showcasing life in Kansas.

Categories

• Adult Photographers (18+) may enter up to two (2) photographs in each category.
• Youth Photographers (13-17) may enter up to three (3) photographs total in any of the categories. All Youth division entries will be judged as one group.
  • Nature & Landscapes
    • In the general realm of living plants, animals, and the Kansas landscape.
    • Examples: plants, flowers, animals, wilderness, rocks, fields, sun, moon, river, rain, clouds, etc.
  • Unique Perspective
    • Voter selected category
    • Bring us new insights.
    • Examples: artful angles, bird’s eye view, macro, panoramic, etc.
  • Winter Wonderland
    • Winter scenes in Kansas.
    • Examples: chilly, cold, ice, snow, bundled up, sledding, ice skating, snowmen, snow day fun, etc.
  • Healthcare in Kansas
    • What does a healthy Kansas mean to you?
    • Examples: healthcare focused: provider, facility, lab, care, event, community, healthy habits, etc.
  • Colorful Kansas
    • Voter selected category
    • Kansas is colorful. Show them those vivid images.
    • Examples: sky, fields, flowers, fires, structures, anything colorful, etc.
  • Youth Division
    • A special division for youth, ages 13-17.
    • Choose any 2024 category.

Prize Information

• A first and second place winner will be awarded in each category. First place winners will receive $100.
• Place winners will receive $50. All winners must complete a W-9 to be able to process prize money.
• Kansas Country Living Grand Prize: The Kansas Country Living editorial team will choose from all of the entries a $100 grand-prize winning Photograph that will be featured on the January 2025 cover of the magazine. All entered images will be considered for this award.

Rules

• Photographs submitted must be taken by Photographer and be their own personal property and creation.
• All Photographs must be taken in the State of Kansas.
• Photographs may be taken at any time.
• Photographers must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the general contest. Youth ages 13-17 may
• participate in the contest in the Youth division and will be judged against other youth.
• Photographs should be submitted electronically as high-quality .jpg/.jpeg files that are high resolution.
• An online entry form must accompany the Photograph submission/s. Only entries with complete and accurate
• information will be considered eligible.
• All Photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photographs that have been digitally altered or enhanced beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color, and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.
• Photographs using photo filters or artificial intelligence (AI) will not be accepted.
• If a Photographer chooses to include people in their submission, the Photographer is responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted and must be able to provide copies of those releases upon request.
• Photographs with watermarks trademarks will not be accepted.
