The Shanghai International Film Festival has launched a global film call, covering five competition units including the Golden Goblet Award Main Competition, Asian Newcomers, Documentary, Animation, Short Film, and International Film Screening Unit.

- Each winning short film will receive a prize of RMB 30,000.

- Golden Goblet Award Main Competition Unit
- For films produced after April 1, 2024, world premieres and international premieres will be given priority. Chinese films must be world premieres;
- The film has not participated in or exhibited any other non-specialized competitive international film festival certified by the International Association of Film Producers (except for films screened for marketing and publicity purposes, subject to the official publication); and has not been publicly screened in countries or regions other than the main production country of the film;
- The film length should be no less than 70 minutes;
- Projection medium: DCP
- Golden Goblet Award Asian Newcomer
- Films produced after April 1, 2024, with priority given to world premieres and international premieres;
- It must be the director’s first or second feature film and the director must be of Asian nationality or of Asian descent;
- The film length should be no less than 70 minutes;
- Projection medium: DCP
- Golden Goblet Award Documentary
- For films produced after April 1, 2024, world premieres and international premieres will be given priority. Chinese films must be world premieres;
- Has not participated in any other non-specialized competitive international film festival certified by the International Film Producers Association;
- The film length should be no less than 70 minutes;
- Projection medium: DCP
- Golden Goblet Award Animation Category
- For films produced after April 1, 2024, world premieres and international premieres will be given priority. Chinese films must be world premieres;
- Has not participated in any other non-specialized competitive international film festival certified by the International Film Producers Association;
- The film length should be no less than 60 minutes;
- Projection medium: DCP
- Golden Goblet Award Short Film Category
- Live-action short films and animated short films produced after April 1, 2024. Documentary short films cannot be submitted as live-action short films, but documentaries shot with animation techniques can be submitted as animated short films.
- Priority will be given to world and international premieres, and Chinese films must be world premieres;
- The duration of the film, including the opening and ending credits, shall not exceed 40 minutes;
- Has not participated in any other non-specialized competitive international film festival certified by the International Film Producers Association;
- The film has never been publicly screened or distributed anywhere other than in cinemas;
- Projection media: Unencrypted DCP, or unencrypted 24fps /48fps digital HD format. The aspect ratio must comply with the cinema’s projection standards
