Deadline: 19 February 2024
Together with the Open Society Foundations, the Climate Tracker (CT) has developed the Urban Amazon project, an innovative program to support journalists and media to critically improve the quantity and quality of their environmental coverage in Brazil and Colombia.
Through the Urban Amazon project, they will grant scholarships to 10 innovative content creators residing in Colombia and Brazil to change this popular but unrealistic conception. Those selected will focus on telling powerful stories from urban hotspots in the Amazon such as Leticia, Manaus and Belem through innovative and attractive content for social networks.
Through the Urban Amazon project, they will harness the audiovisual and digital storytelling capacity of the fellows and combine it with Climate Tracker’s expertise in journalism practices and ethics. Additionally, they will focus on topics such as fact-checking, with the goal of transforming local climate stories into powerful social media pieces.
In total, during this six-month project, the fellows will participate in the following activities:
- Attendance to the training program: It is made up of group sessions in online mode. Scholarship holders will be informed in a timely manner when starting the course project.
- Constant communication with an assigned mentor: Fellows will be able to have individual sessions and support in the production process throughout the program.
- Production of six audiovisual and journalistic content for social networks, framed in the environmental challenges of Amazonian cities in Colombia and Brazil: With the support of Climate Tracker, the scholarship holders will have the obligation to deliver a monthly product that revolves around the Urban Amazon. They must meet certain requirements and quality levels requested by the Climate Tracker team.
Benefits
- Financial support: At the end of the program, you will have received a total incentive of $900. This is 150 USD for each of the audiovisual pieces published.
