Deadline: 15 February 2024
The New York University Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute in partnership with the Dow Jones News Fund have launched the Black Male Journalism Workshop to recruit and enroll an elite cohort of college students for an intensive summer training program at New York University.
The mission of the workshop is to identify and rectify the under-representation of African-American males in newsrooms across the country. There is value in people from all backgrounds being attuned to this lack of representation and the disparities that may result from it. The support of diversity allies is critical to effecting meaningful change toward equitable representation in newsrooms.
Twenty students will be chosen from a highly competitive pool of applicants to attend a one-week training program based at NYU in June 2024. To ensure the economic diversity of workshop participants, program instruction, housing, meals, and transportation to attend the workshop are provided at no cost for every participating student.
