The Baden-Württemberg Film Office is happy to announce that films can now be submitted for the 21th Indian Film Festival 2024!
They extend an invitation to all Indian filmmakers, producers, production companies and distributors to participate in their festival and to show your film on the grand screen in Germany.
The Indian Film Festival Stuttgart is a very special event that attracts many enthusiastic fans to the state capital every summer. The focus is on the diverse filmmaking of the world‘s largest film industry. When selecting the program, they place particular value on showing India’s diversity of languages, traditions and regional differences. The Indian Film Festival Stuttgart stands above all for current topics and time references and shows the viewers India as it is today, with all its cultural changes and social challenges. The daily Tea Talks, a lecture series with experts and special topics, also create a connection to current topics.
The Indian Film Festival Stuttgart reflects the growing internationalization of Indian film as well as the interest in Indian culture in Germany. Since 2004, the Indian Film Festival has presented around 800 films to an interested audience and showed how Indian society is changing in the area of tension between tradition and modernity. A change that is not without conflict and thus offers material for countless other film stories.

- The Indian Film Festival is organized and hosted by the Filmbuero Baden-Wuerttemberg e.V. The Filmbuero Baden-Wuerttemberg e.V. is a non-profitable, charitable, cultural and educational organization devoted to celebrating excellence in film and the moving image.
- The principal objective of the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart is to promote and encourage an awareness, appreciation and understanding of the art of Indian cinema and to inspire cultural exchange through film. The Festival also promotes contacts between industry professionals to assist in the development of the Indian and German motion picture industry.

- Films screened at the Festival must either be produced in India or have a reference to India. Selected films will be placed in the appropriate category by the Festival Programme Committee. The Festival Programme Committee reserves the right to rule on cases not foreseen by these regulations, but in accordance with International Regulations. Participation in the 2024 Indian Film Festival Stuttgart implies acceptance of the Rules and Regulations by producers and their agents.

- Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for consideration, all films must meet the following requirements:
- be available to screen as a composite film print in DCP or HD-File, transmitted latest by 1st July, 2024. The Festival does not screen doublesystem prints.
- not have been previously screened commercially in Germany nor available on the internet prior to 25th July, 2024.
- be in their original language with English or German subtitles.
- have been completed after 1st January, 2023. In exceptional cases, films that are slightly older may be considered.
- Films submitted to previous festival editions will not be considered for the 2024 Festival.

- Telling an idea in a few seconds and conveying a message that motivates customers to buy a product is a fine art. The Advertising Film Competition is part of the ‘Making of Indian Cinema’ section. In addition to the main programme of the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart with feature films, short films and documentaries, the German audience will get an insight into the work of the Indian advertising film industry: What appeals to Indian consumers, which messages do they perceive and what is important for the acceptance of a product?
- What they are looking for:
- They are looking for commercials that promote Indian products or services to the Indian market and Indian customers. The evaluation will be based on how original the concept is. The more unusual, funny, ludicrous, bizarre, flashy and shrill a realisation is, the better.

- lead agencies with headquarters in India

Awards
- The Festival awards prizes in the following categories:
- German Star of India (Feature Film Award), endowed with 2,000 €
- Best Documentary Award, endowed with 1,000 €
- Best Short Film Award, endowed with 1,000 €
- Director’s Vision Award (prize for outstanding social or political dedication within a film)
- Audience Award, endowed with 1,000 € (all films selected for the festival are running in the competition for the Audience Award)
- Best TVC Award, endowed with 500 €
Dates
- The 21st Indian Film Festival Stuttgart will be held from 17th to 21st July 2024.
Criteria
- They show feature films, short films (up to 30 minutes), documentaries, animated films and TV commercials. Submitted films should fall into one of these categories.
- Films screened at the Festival must either be produced in India or have a reference to India.
- Submitted films must be available as DCP, HD file or Blu-Ray Disc.
- They must be in their original language with German or English subtitles.
- They have to be produced in 2024 or 2023.
