The Consumer Rights Protection Program of the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), within the framework of the ongoing project “Increased Agricultural Practices and Consumer Awareness” with the support of the European Union and “Bread of the World” (Germany), announces a competition to identify the best media works on food safety issues.
The purpose and task of the competition
- The purpose of the competition is to increase the level of civil education, monitoring and participation in food safety.
- The task of the competition is to support the Georgian media in covering issues related to food safety.
The topic of the competition material
- The competition material should include one or more of the following items:
- Information to help consumers better protect themselves from foodborne hazards.
- Activities of the state agency responsible for the state regulation of food safety in Georgia and the difficulties faced by them.
- A systemic problem related to food safety.
- A specific case of violation of food safety requirements.
- It is desirable to indicate the following:
- Will bringing Georgia closer to the European Union contribute to the improvement of the situation?
- How the European Union contributes to the improvement of the food safety situation in Georgia.
Awards
- The winners of the competition will receive monetary awards in the amount of 750 euros according to the following nominations:
- Best video work (2 awards).
- Best audio work (2 awards).
- Best article (newspaper/website, 2 awards).
Eligibility Criteria
- Journalists who work in media outlets registered in Georgia can participate in the competition.
- Preference will be given to journalists working in the target regions of the project (Kakheti, Imereti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti).
- The application can be submitted by the author of the material or a group of authors.
- A person or a group of persons participating in the competition may present several works.
- The same work can be considered for only one nomination.
- More than one winner cannot be selected from the same media outlet.
