Call for Proposals: XIV “Africa Objective” Photo Contest

Casa África announces its XIV “Africa Objective” Photographic Contest , which will reward the photographs that best reveal the positive aspects of the African continent in the field of Biodiversity in Africa , which is this year’s theme.

Objective Africa, always oriented to knowing the positive aspects of the African continent, focuses in this edition on the environment and biodiversity, to contribute to the dissemination of the African natural heritage that invites them to think and visualize the richness of this biodiversity and its necessary conservation for the continent and the planet.

The theme can also be extended to climate change and its economic and social impact from a sustainability point of view. In addition, the photographs must show an optimistic approach , with the aim of continuing to break down the stereotypes that have traditionally marked the African continent.

Purpose

  • The purpose of this contest is to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about Africa and promote a positive image of the continent by encouraging creativity to through photography, valuing multiculturalism, coexistence and, indefinitively, the enrichment that the interaction between different cultures entails.

Prize Information

  • Casa África will award a first, a second and a third prize to people whose photograph is classified, respectively, in the first, second and third place in the order of priority included in the resolution granting this announcement.
  • The estimated individualized amount of each of the three prizes will be the following:
    • First prize: 1,000 euros.
    • Second prize: 500 euros.
    • Third prize: 300 euros.
  • In addition to the financially awarded prizes, Casa África may award second prizes or special mentions to the authors whose photography is classified between fourth and sixth place in the order of priority included in the resolution of granting of this call.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All natural persons over 18 years of age who are the authors of photographs that capture images linked to the theme related to the African continent of this call may participate and be eligible for the prizes.
  • Notwithstanding the above, those people who meet any of the following circumstances will not be able to participate:
  • That it has been awarded in previous calls for the “Africa Objective” awards granted by the Consortium.
  • That maintains any type of employment or professional relationship with the Casa África Consortium or with any of the entities that comprise it (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation; the Government of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria). However, and unless expressly opposed by the applicant, it will not be necessary to provide those documents that were already in the possession of Casa África or have been prepared by any other Administration. In this case, the person must indicate at what time and to which administrative body they presented the aforementioned documents.
  • Who is related by blood within the fourth degree or by affinity within the second, with any person who provides services in the Consortium or with any of the members of the Jury that is constituted for this call.
  • Participants in this call may submit up to a maximum of five photographs.
  • The applicant will guarantee, as the author of the photograph, that he or she holds all intellectual property rights.
