The Casa Africa is pleased to announce the “Purorrelato” Micro-Story Contest to reward the micro-stories that best show the positive aspects of the African continent.
This contest was born with a double purpose: on the one hand, to encourage thinking and writing about Africa and to bring a more positive image of the continent, moving it away from negative stereotypes and, on the other hand, to bring the institution closer to new audiences, and increase the audience in the African continent. Therefore, it aims to promote cultural relations with other countries.
The objective is to approach those people interested in writing who can develop their creativity on African themes, motivating an interest in approaching the realities of the neighboring continent, valuing multiculturalism, coexistence and, ultimately, the enrichment that interaction entails. between different cultures.
The theme of the short story is free, although it must contain some connection with Africa or its diaspora. The story can take place inside or outside the continent and its degree of connection with Africa can range from a detail to its total prominence.
Prize Information
- The estimated individualized amount of each of the three prizes will be the following:
- First prize: 750 euros.
- Second prize: 375 euros.
- Third prize: 225 euros.
Eligibility Criteria
- All natural persons over 18 years of age who are authors of the short stories participating in this call may participate and be eligible for the prizes.
- Participants in this call may present up to one maximum of three short stories.
- Those people who meet any of the following circumstances will not be able to participate
- That it has been awarded in previous calls for the “Purorrelato” micro-story contest awards awarded by the Consortium.
- Who is related by blood within the fourth degree or by affinity within the second, with any person who provides services in the Consortium or with any of the members of the Jury that is constituted in each call.
- In addition, the short stories must be original, unpublished and must not have been awarded or pending failure in other contests or competitions. Participants must guarantee that there are no third-party rights over the micro-stories presented and will be responsible for any claims that may be made in this regard.
- The short stories may be presented in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese, with a maximum length of 1500 characters (not words) including spaces and excluding the title.
