‘How We Age’ Photography Competition in Ireland

The How We Age competition is all about changing how they portray ageing and older people in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

It seeks to create a series of images that will better represent and more accurately portray what it means to age or get older by showing older people doing ordinary, everyday things.

Under the theme of How We Age: Working, learning, and volunteering in later life, IPH is seeking images that portray older people in an authentic and inclusive way – regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, politics, culture, ability, income, or post code.

Under this theme, the Institute is seeking images that reflect and include older adults:

• Working – all forms of work, part-time, full-time, paid and unpaid;
• Learning – engaged in lifelong learning, teaching or learning;
• Volunteering – contributing to society both formally and informally.

Prize Information                                                                                 

• Prize for first place Submission: Gift voucher for a leading photography equipment retailer to the value of €/£500, currency dependent on the entrant’s country of residence.
• Prize for second place Submission: Gift voucher for a leading photography equipment retailer to the value of €/£300, currency dependent on the entrant’s country of residence.
• Prize for third place Submission: Gift voucher for a leading photography equipment retailer to the value of €/£100, currency dependent on the entrant’s country of residence.
• Prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable and no cash alternative is available. However, if Promoter considers it appropriate, or if it becomes necessary for reasons beyond Promoter’s control, a Prize may be varied or swapped for a suitable alternative in Promoter’s discretion. Prizes are subject to the gift card terms and conditions. Prize winners should ensure they are aware of any applicable expiry dates.

Who can apply?

• The Competition is only open to residents of Ireland and Northern Ireland aged 18 or over. Promoter reserves the right at any time to require proof of eligibility in such form as Promoter reasonably considers necessary.

Who cannot apply?

• Even if they meet the criteria, the following persons are not eligible to enter the Competition:
  • any employee or other individual working for the Promoter;
  • members of the immediate family and/or household (whether related or not) of any of those individuals; and
  • anyone else professionally involved or associated with the operation, promotion or administration of the Competition.
