Applications are now open for How We Age photography competition, which is seeking images of older adults engaged in work, teaching, learning, or volunteering in their local communities.
Institute of Public Health seeks to build on the success of IPH’s 2022 competition by creating a series of images that will better represent and more accurately portray what it means to age or get older in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Under the theme of ‘Working, learning, and volunteering in later life’, the 2024 competition is seeking photographs that show how older people enrich lives and communities through work, teaching, learning, or volunteering.
Themes
- Older adults in the workplace – eg all forms of work, part-time, full-time, paid and unpaid etc.
- Older adults using digital technology and services – eg online learning, formal and informal etc.
- Older adults volunteering in the community – eg volunteering for community, social, and charity initiatives etc.
- Older adults teaching a skill / coaching other – eg teaching any form of sport, physical activity, arts, cooking etc.
- Older adults caring for others – eg caring for a grandchild, family member, or loved one.
Prize Information
- The prizes are as follows:
- Prize for first place Submission: Gift voucher for a leading photography equipment retailer to the value of €/£500, currency dependent on the entrant’s country of residence.
- Prize for second place Submission: Gift voucher for a leading photography equipment retailer to the value of €/£300, currency dependent on the entrant’s country of residence.
- Prize for third place Submission: Gift voucher for a leading photography equipment retailer to the value of €/£100, currency dependent on the entrant’s country of residence.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Competition is only open to residents of Ireland and Northern Ireland aged 18 or over.
- Promoter reserves the right at any time to require proof of eligibility in such form as Promoter reasonably considers necessary.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Even if they meet the above criteria, the following persons are not eligible to enter the Competition:
- any employee or other individual working for the Promoter
- members of the immediate family and/or household (whether related or not) of any of those individuals
- anyone else professionally involved or associated with the operation, promotion or administration of the Competition.
