Join the 14th Annual Leica Street Photo Contest

Deadline: 10 January 2025

Join them for the 14th annual Leica Street Photo contest! This is your chance to showcase your street photography skills and be part of a global community of photographers.

A panel of experts will select 30 finalists whose work will be exhibited in Warsaw and Vienna. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, they encourage you to submit your photos. They’re looking for a wide range of styles, from classic street scenes to more experimental work. Share your unique perspective on the world and let your images tell a story.

Theme

  • The competition is dedicated to broadly understood street photography. Street photography is understood as a type of photography that documents everyday life in public space, including interactions between people, architecture, events and the atmosphere of the city.

Prize Information

  • The main prize in the competition is a Leica Q3 camera. The winning work will be selected based on the Jury’s vote. The main prize in the Competition will be issued in accordance with tax regulations in force in Poland.
  • Sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation and Belarus related to the military operations in Ukraine close the way, in the event of victory, to honouring with an award people living in the territories subject to sanctions.
  • The works qualified for the final will take part in the exhibition at Leica Galley Vienna and will be part of the post-competition exhibition Leica Street Photo presented in other galleries cooperating with the gallery. The organizer covers all costs related to printing and presenting the winning works, organizing the exhibition and the vernissage.
  • For each prize in kind, the Participant will receive an additional cash prize in the amount of 11.11% of the value of the prize issued. The Participant agrees to allocate the additional cash prize to cover the Organiser’s flat-rate income tax on the prize won and therefore the cash prize will not be issued to the Participant. The Organiser, as a payer of flat-rate personal income tax, will calculate, collect and pay to the appropriate Tax Office the flat-rate income tax due on the prize before issuing the prize.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to all adults who are not linked to the Organizer by capital, personal or employment relationship.
  • The condition for participation of minors is the consent of their parents or guardians to participate in the competition.
  • Providing true personal data is a condition for receiving a possible prize.
  • Entries to the Competition are accepted via the entry form.

Selection Criteria

  • The Organizer will appoint a competition committee (“Jury”), consisting of at least three people.
  • The Jurors will be selected based on their experience in photography, art and knowledge of trends in street photography.
  • The Jurors are not allowed to submit their own works to the competition.
  • The Jury will evaluate the submitted works and select the finalists and the winner of the Competition.
  • The Jurors will be provided with a gallery of submitted works.
  • Voting will take place using an online system equipped with an access verification system.
  • The 30 works that received the most votes from the Jury members will be included in the group of finalists.
  • The work that will receive the Grand Prix will be selected as a result of the so-called play-off – a separate vote by the jurors for one of the works from the group of finalists.
  • The work that receives the most votes from the jurors will win.
  • The decisions made by the Competition Jury are final and not subject to appeal.

Application Requirements

  • A competition participant may submit a maximum of five photos.
  • The technique of taking the photo is optional. The subject should refer to street photography. The basic criteria for assessing the works are: originality and quality of execution. The photo must be taken between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
  • Contest works must depict real scenes captured in a single frame. Only basic color corrections and cropping are allowed. Combining different photos, adding or removing elements, and other manipulations that significantly change the original image are prohibited. In particular, works created using AI image generators are not allowed.
  • In the application form, you must add photos in jpg format and resolution up to 2000 pixels along the longer side. At the request of the Organizer, the Participant is obliged to provide an unedited photo file in the original format from which the competition photo was generated. Failure to comply with this obligation may result in disqualification.
  • The competition winners will be asked to immediately provide digital files in the highest resolution they have – allowing for high-quality printing in the format of 50 cm on the longer side. In the event that the Winner does not have, or does not provide such files, after a maximum of 72 hours from receiving information from the organizer about qualifying for the final, the Organizer may refrain from awarding the prize and qualifying the work for the final.
  • By submitting a work to the competition, the Participant declares that he or she is its author and has all rights to dispose of the intellectual property related to this work. In addition, the Participant declares that the submitted work does not violate the rights of institutions and third parties, in particular all persons visible in the photograph / video, and that these persons have consented to the use of their images in the Competition and their distribution. In the absence of such consent, the Participant takes responsibility for all justified claims of these persons and institutions.
  • The submitted works may not contain content intended exclusively for adults, including erotic content, content promoting alcohol or tobacco products, or other content whose public presentation is prohibited by law.
  • The decision as to whether a submitted photograph reflects the competition theme is made by the Jury.
  • The organizer will inform the winners about the competition results via email.
  • The Participant agrees to the indefinite publication of submitted works during the Competition and after its completion, on the electronic information platforms of the Organizer and Partners, on the social networking sites (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) of the Organizer and Partners, and through the media cooperating with the Organizer, provided that any such publication may take place only in the context of the Competition, its promotion and information about the results.
