Media Support Opportunity: Free Short Videos for Eco-Projects

Deadline: 14 April 2024

EcoCupid is currently accepting applications for the Free Short Videos for Eco-Projects to create Southeast Asia’s first environmentalist-focused social platform.

EcoCupid features the stories of Southeast Asia’s eco-heroes, positively impacting people doing great things for the environment.

Short Video Media Grants

  • From the travels and meet-ups with brilliant minds, they realized that many of Southeast Asia’s environmental projects want to use social media to enhance their visibility or call for action. Did you know that eco-projects are always looking for people like you — enthusiastic young people ready to do something for the environment — to create impactful social media?
  • There’s always an eco-project out there trying to promote an event, recruit volunteers, publish groundbreaking findings, ask for donations, or just want to share their solutions. If done right, social media content can convert likes and shares into real, physical impact for them.
  • Do you want to support eco-projects? Are you good at content creation? They know how you can help!
  • EcoCupid’s Local Eco Explainers is an initiative to develop Southeast Asia’s next generation of environmental content creators. Stand a chance to win a small grant to produce one short video for one amazing eco-project from your country.
    • Workshop-styled webinar on short video content creation for eco-projects
    • Create one short video to support one environmental project from your own country
    • Direct mentorship on short video content creation, ranging from scriptwriting, production, and editing
    • Co-publish an impactful short video with EcoCupid and your paired eco-project

Funding Information

  • They anticipate supporting 10 individual content creators with 120.00 USD each before transfer fee rates according to the recipient bank account’s requirements. Content creators will receive the funding after completing all deliverables on time. Content creators will also receive a certificate from YSEALI – U.S. Mission to ASEAN.

How it works:

  • They invite you to share your eco-project with them
  • They go through a selection process to help eco-projects that need help urgently
  • They match you with one content creator from your own country to create one short video for you
  • They invite both you and your matched content creator to the Local Eco Explainers media workshop, where EcoCupid will share tips about short video content creation, ranging from scriptwriting, production, and editing
  • They co-publish an impactful short video with EcoCupid and your paired content creator

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants are required to be aged from 18 to 35 by 2024 and can be of any ethnicity or gender.
  • This opportunity focuses on building capacity for content creation in one of the following five countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Applicants must either be citizens or permanent residents of one of these countries and must be currently residing in said country.
  • For this funding opportunity, they will only be accepting applications in English. Unfortunately, they cannot consider applications in other languages at this time. Applicants must either have a working understanding of English or have a translator available to assist with communication with Internews staff. However, applicants may produce stories and training materials in any language.
  • Applicants are required to be transparent about the use of generative AI tools, if any, in the development of their applications. EcoCupid reserves the right to disqualify applicants from consideration if they have been found to have engaged in unethical or improper professional conduct, including, but not limited to, plagiarism and submitting AI-generated content as their own.
  • Applicants must note their affiliations with existing media organisations or environmental groups if applicable. They will not consider applicants rooted in campaigning for violent, discriminatory, propaganda, religious, or malicious intentions.
