The World Health Organization, together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and UNICEF, has developed an informative and timely workshop for journalists from central Asian countries, ahead of 2 important events taking place in Kazakhstan later in October.
These are the Primary health care policy and practice: implementing for better results, which will take place on 23 October 2023, and the 73rd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, to be held on 24–26 October 2023.
Why attend the media information session?
- Over 1.5 days, you will have the opportunity to:
- speak to WHO experts and strengthen your understanding of key public health topics, including primary health care; antimicrobial resistance; emergency preparedness response and resilience; health workforce; and refugee and migrant health, in the context of central Asia and the implementation of the Roadmap for health and well-being in central Asia;
- discuss how to effectively communicate health issues and access WHO and UNICEF tools and resources;
- meet high-level WHO and UNICEF representatives and build an understanding of their work to deliver health at country, regional and global level; and
- understand the issues on the agenda at 2 forthcoming events – the International Conference on Primary Health Care and the 73rd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe – as well as wider public health issues of relevance to your country and region.
Practical Information
- The session will run for 1.5 days, from 14 to 15 September 2023. It will be held in a hybrid format, with journalists able to attend in person in Astana or follow online. Kindly note that travel costs must be covered by the media outlet attending.
- The working language will be Russian, with interpretation available in English and Kazakh.
- A resource package will be shared with those attending.
