The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is seeking applications for the Human Rights Photography Competition to promote and protect human rights as well as generate awareness in the country.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India was established on 12th October, 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act (PHRA), NHRC is an embodiment of India’s concern for the promotion and protection of human rights in line with its Constitution.
Themes
- The Themes for the competition are as follows:
- Child Labour
- Challenges of destitute elderly
- Environmental Hazards impacting life on planet Earth
- Celebrating human rights & values in Indian diversity
- Celebrating gender equality
- Development initiatives improving life and living standards
- LGBTQI+ life, rights and challenges
- Women (rights, challenges, their contribution to the development of the nation
- Beggars
- Disability (rights, challenges, achievements)
Prize Information
- The cash prizes are:
- 1st Prize 15,000/-
- 2nd Prize 10,000/-
- 3rd Prize 5,000/-
- 7 consolation prizes of Rs2,000/- for each
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to Indian citizens.
- There is no entry fee to participate in the contest which is open to Indian citizens of age 14 years and above only.
- The applicant can send a maximum of two photographs under two different themes for the competition.
- Photos should be originally shot by the applicant and if these are found to be infringing copyright, these will be rejected.
- The photographs should be shot in HD Standard having pixel appropriate size of 3600×5400 and an aspect ratio of 4:3 or 3:2 and the image size should not more than 2MB to ensure a good printable quality of the photographs when required.
- The Photographs should be submitted as entries on the shortlisted themes in JPG/JPEG/ PNG format.
