The Onassis Culture is inviting Greek and international filmmakers and producers based in Greece to submit their proposals.
The Onassis Culture supports independent Greek cinema and the short film format, embracing the processes of creation and artistic growth. For the second year, it addresses an open call to Greek and foreign filmmakers to submit their proposals for short fiction and documentary films, live-action, and animation. The Onassis Culture team will assess their proposals and will concern co-productions with Greek production companies. The selected short films will go into production to find their way to the big screen and encounter their domestic and international audiences at festivals around the world.
Funding Information
- Five of these will receive funding ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 euros.
Eligibility Criteria
- The application must be submitted by a production company or by a director together with a production company.
- The application must concern a film based on an original script or a pre-existing script whose copyright has been demonstrably secured by the applicant.
- The film must not be produced while the director is studying at a film school.
- The application must concern a fiction, animation or documentary film.
- The budget of the film should not exceed €80,000.
- The director of the film must not be over 38 years old.
- The director of the film must not already have a feature film in his filmography.
- The duration of the film should not exceed 20 minutes.
- The film to be delivered within 18 months of its approval.
- The production company must be based in Greece and the filming must take place within Greek territory. (In contrast, there is no restriction on the nationality of contributors.)
