The Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust is inviting filmmakers to create a short film to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first conversations with artists at the site, whose proposals became the Sculpture Trail.
Aims
- The key aims of the film are to :
- Celebrate the uniqueness of the Forest of Dean and the Sculpture Trail.
- Raise awareness of the artist-led nature of the commissions and the founding principles of collaboration and experimentation by the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail.
- Share publicly why and how the Sculpture Trail came to be using the Trust’s extensive archive housed at the University of Gloucestershire.
Funding Information
- Artist/filmmaker fee and production costs: ÂŁ3,000
- Travel, accommodation and per diems as required for site visits: ÂŁ400
Why are they commissioning a film?Â
- They want to promote the project to a broad general audience and the wider community of Forest of Dean. They want the film to play a part in raising the profile of the Sculpture Trail as a pioneering early supporter of visual and environmental art. They want the film to share the connections between the artists, community and the Forest of Dean and to encourage people to want to find out more and visit. By utilizing the extensive archive they hope the film will unearth hidden stories of the Sculpture Trail not previously shared.
Timelines                                   Â
- June: Filmmaker appointed
- June – August: Research and access to Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail archive
- September – October: Editing and finalising film
- November: Film completed
Mandatory Inclusions
- Credit lines: Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust CIO, music credits if necessary plus funding support credits & logos (Summerfield Trust and Forestry England).
- A subtitled version of the film
- Hi Res still images to be supplied to support online marketing and promotion of the film
- It is the responsibility of the filmmaker to capture names and job titles from interviewees.

- It should noted that both Forest of Dean Sculpture Trust and Forestry England should have the rights to show the film on their respective digital channels indefinitely.

- Instagram stories 1080 x 1920 (9:16)
- The film should be no longer than 20 minutes
- A short trail no longer than 15 seconds should be created for social media promotion

- Inspiring, engaging, experimental.
