Deadline: 21 July 2024
The AFLAMUNA offers an open call for filmmakers, producers, and distributors to screen their films in spaces across the region, and to reconnect with Arab audiences.
This program does not intend to compete with or replace traditional distribution. On the contrary, they aim to extend the life of Arab films after they have exhausted the existing distribution channels to reach new audiences that aren’t accessible through any of the existing avenues.
The Masahat AFLAMUNA project offers a unique opportunity to showcase your film to diverse audiences in Palestine, Tunisia, and Lebanon. They aim to reach new viewers who may have limited access to theatrical releases or streaming platforms. Selected films will be screened in multiple spaces identified by AFLAMUNA, free of charge for audience members.
What they offers?
- Screening the film in multiple spaces across the Arab region to reach new audiences that have no access to theatrical releases and only limited access to streaming.
- The films will only be screened in the spaces identified by AFLAMUNA as part of the Masahat AFLAMUNA directory. All screenings will be non-commercial and free of charge for audience members.
- A fee of 500 EUR will be paid for feature films available in the entire Arab region for a full year – other situations will be negotiated pro rata.
- Selected films will be eligible to receive the Masahat AFLAMUNA award (with a cash prize of 1,000 EUR), chosen directly by the Community Cinema Makers of the Masahat network.
- If the filmmaker and the screening spaces are interested, there will be a possibility to organize virtual or in-person Q&As.
What is required from rightsholders?
- Make their film available to be screened non-commercially over the course of a full year (January 1st, 2025 to December 31st, 2025) in the Arab territories where they own the non-theatrical rights.
- If the submitted does not own the non-theatrical rights, a letter of agreement from the rightsholder confirming their commitment to make the film available for the Masahat AFLAMUNA program is required.
