Deadline: 10 March 2024
CONNECTAS, in alliance with the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA), opens the call for digital media in the region that seek to promote the digital transition of their information projects, enhance their economic model and modernize their newsroom.
Those selected will have personalized mentoring to implement significant changes in their daily operations.
This unique opportunity is open to media outlets throughout Latin America with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Priority will be given to those with roots within their audiences, that cover current issues, and that guarantee the commitment of their management and editorial team throughout the support.
The process will start from a diagnosis of the needs of each medium to achieve a successful transition to the digital ecosystem.
What does the program offer?
- Mentoring and support for 10 weeks to align the business model with the information products developed by the medium.
- Mentoring for the adaptation of information products to digital and support to organize your work team, in accordance with the defined strategy.
- Identify and implement practical solutions that are easy to apply according to the resources available to the environment.
- Draw up medium-term strategies and commitments so that the medium can continue advancing on its own, always with the complicity of the mentor.
Program Methodology
- The mentoring is designed for leaders of the media or their trusted people, rather than for technical profiles, who will also be welcome at the mentoring meetings.
- Examples of problems that can be addressed within the process:
- Media that have begun to make online subscriptions but have identified that the audience is not responding. Because? What can change?
- Media with some support from subscribers or sympathizers that, however, have not managed to retain them, or they end up unsubscribing. How do you identify what can be done better?
- How to improve member and subscriber acquisition campaigns. How to improve data analysis on them. Paywall or membership?
- Traditional print media that seek to change paper models and try to reorganize their newsroom to dedicate themselves only to digital. What changes can you make to have an optimized digital newsroom?
- Media with resources, with good journalists, but without impact or audience or ability to convert partners. What is failing?
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a Latin American media outlet that has a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Cover current affairs or news in your information agenda.
- Be a medium with roots within its community and with a regular audience of readers.
- Guarantee that during the process there will be commitment from the entire management and editorial team.
- Have within the medium a link for the mentoring process and who will be responsible for taking charge of implementing the decisions made from the Mentoring.
