Promenade is seeking 5 artists or companies to apply to receive producing, production and artistic supports from the Promenade team and a range of outside experts and partners during 2024 and 2025.
Promenade has recently received funding from the Arts Council’s Creative Production Supports Scheme 2024 and 2025 to provide support to artists and producers working in the areas of circus, street arts, spectacle, participatory arts and multi-disciplinary arts including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
Artists Supports
- Each artist/company will be assigned a producer with an average of 4 hours support per week. This will involve mentoring and practical support tailored to each individual artist/company needs, such as:
- Project planning timelines, resourcing & costing/budgeting
- Partnership brokering both within Ireland & internationally
- Identifying funds and drafting funding applications/bids
- Projects in development supports, e.g. contracts, scheduling
- Supports on public engagement plans or work with communities of place or interest ensuring best practice
- Tour booking/liaison with promoters including support with pitching & networking
- Circus Factory will offer one artist a one week shared residency during 2024 & 2025 at Circus Factory as an artist support and The Everyman will offer three x 3 day residencies over 2024/2025.
- In addition Promenade will pay for each artist/company to benefit from the following outside support from the following experts:
- Dramaturgical support from Georgie Brookman (4.4 hours online)
- Director/artistic advisory/outside eye one to ones with Aoife Carry (1 day either in person or online split over a number of sessions)
- Production and technical advisory support by Mark Carry (Online – up to 1 day including research time)
- Operational logistics, specifically for outdoors work by Geri Murphy (1 day either in person or online split over a number of sessions
- An environmental expertise group session + one to ones by Native Events
- Marketing, communications & PR support one to ones + templates from Megan Cronin and Maria Rolston (Online – up to 1 day each)
- Fee: Each artist/company will receive 350 euro per day x 5 days for meetings with Promenade and receiving external advisory support (1750 euro) per year (2024 & 2025).
Eligibility Criteria
- Artists resident in the Republic of Ireland will be prioritised from the following disciplines:
- Circus, street arts and spectacle
- Participatory arts
- Outdoors arts, work in the public realm including site-specific work
- Artists may identify as multi-disciplinary in their practice, but must include at least one of the above artforms
- Other priorities:
- Early-career/emerging artists
- (‘An artist in the early stages of their career who is developing their practice and reputation and becoming recognised by fellow artists and critics’ definition taken from the Arts Council Making Great Art Work Glossary.)
- Artists from under-represented backgrounds in the arts (e.g. people with disabilities, from ethnic minority backgrounds, Traveller backgrounds and working class backgrounds)
- Artists who have not worked with a producer previously (artists may be self-producing)
- Demonstrate potential and appetite for touring
- Demonstrate interest in sustainability/reducing carbon footprint in their practice
- Either recently awarded a project award/AGF grant or have clear plans in progress.
