In the context of the for Our Planet campaign, the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan is organising a photo competition to raise awareness about the protection of natural resources and strategies for climate action in the lead-up to COP29 in Baku.
Categories
- The competition consists of four categories, and participants are expected to capture the essence of one of these categories in their photographs. The categories are as follows:
- Air
- Water
- Earth
- Green Energy
Prize Information
- Prizes will be awarded to the top three photographs in each of the four categories (Air, Water, Earth, Green Energy). Selected photographs will be featured in an exhibition.
- All finalists will win a 3 day photography course. Winners will be notified via email.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to amateur photographers, 18 years of age or older, who reside in Azerbaijan and do not earn the majority of their income from photography.
- Only photographs captured in the year 2024 are eligible for submission to this contest. Images that have previously received awards in other competitions will not be accepted.
- Photographs featuring the following subjects are eligible for submission:
- Animals, Lifestyle, Nature, Landscape and Environment, People, Street Photography, Technology and Modern Life, Travel, Sports and Adventure.
- Only photographs taken with mobile phones are eligible for participation.
Selection Criteria
- The jury will evaluate and select the best submitted photographs based on their aesthetic excellence, originality, strong composition, technical quality, overall impact, visual appeal, artistic merit, and the photographer’s unique interpretation of the theme, ensuring that the content aligns with the criteria of the respective category in which they are assessed.
Application Requirements
- Applicants must capture their photographs using only mobile phones.
- Applicants must share their photos on their social media (Facebook and/ or Instagram).
- Applicants may submit only one photograph per category (Air, Water, Earth, Green Energy), with a maximum of four submissions in total.
- Each photograph must be submitted in a separate email.
- Each photograph must be renamed to include the photographer’s name and the corresponding entry number.
- Subject line in the email should include your full name, your submission category followed by: ForOurPlanet Competition.
- Submission Specifications:
- File format: JPEG
- Longest dimension: 3000 pixels
- Restrictions: no borders, no signatures and watermarks.
- The minimum image requirement is JPG format, with a width of at least 3000px on the longest side.
- Photos may be digitally enhanced for clarity, brightness, or to remove minor imperfections, but the content must not be manipulated.
- Entrants must confirm that all submitted images were captured and processed exclusively on mobile phones, with no use of professional cameras or devices.
- Entries that do not adhere to these rules will be disqualified.
