Photography and Literature Competition 2024

Applications are now open for the Photography and Literature Competition, an international photography competition dealing with the challenge of literature.

This competition is aimed at photographers, and is for works inspired by specific works of literature. The choice of literary form (poetry, prose, drama etc.) is open.

10 winners will be chosen by the jury Gabriele Rothemann, Bernd Stiegler, Eva Asaad.

The selected winners will be shown during the TDDL (June 26th to 30th 2024) in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.

Prize Information

  • The main prizes, sponsored by KELAG, are:
    • €800 for 1st place,
    • €500 for second place,
    • €300 for third place

Criteria

  • Only one entry per person will be accepted.
  • Participation in the competition is free. There is no participation fee.
  • Only works that were created using photography (including photograms, collages, scans or similar) can be submitted.
  • Submissions via email will not be accepted.
  • The uploaded files must meet the following formal criteria: JPEG, PNG max. 9 MB
  • The winners are determined anonymously and behind closed doors by a jury whose members are freely chosen by wortimbild.
  • Winners will be notified after the jury meeting.
  • All other participants will not be notified. You can find out the result at www.wortimbild.at.
  • wortimbild takes over the production of the works selected by the jury for the subsequent exhibition.
  • The works produced remain the property of wortimbild and can be used for events or exhibition purposes.
  • No submission may infringe the copyright or usage rights or other intellectual property rights or personal rights of third parties.
  • The submitters guarantee this and are liable to wortimbild for this.
  • By registering for the competition, participants agree to the registration and storage of their personal and work-related data.
  • You agree to the public use of this data and your submitted work in connection with wortimbild’s activities.
  • The participants grant the organizer and its event partners a non-exclusive, worldwide right to use the works and texts they submit in connection with the competition and the subsequent exhibition.
  • The organizer and its event partners/sponsors may publish and reproduce the submitted works and texts in connection with the competition free of charge.
  • This includes (not limited to): the presentation of the winning works in the final exhibition and other public exhibitions organized by the competition organizer or its event partners. All types of publications on the website of the organizer and the event partners, as well as in advertising materials and other competition-related products (such as catalogs, books, etc.) even after the exhibition has ended. Transfer of these rights to media for publication and reproduction as part of reporting on the competition and the exhibition. However, these rights only include non-commercial use. If commercial use occurs, the express consent of the submitter is of course required.
  • There is no legal claim to the prize money and the production of the work by wortimbild and the exhibition of the work. Any warranty and liability of wortimbild and its contractual partners is excluded – to the extent permitted by law.
  • In the event of any ambiguities or contradictions between the German-language original and a foreign-language translation of these conditions of participation, the German-language text applies.
  • These conditions of participation are binding.
