The post-production industry plays a crucial supporting role in the content making process, as it encompasses some of the most important technical and creative elements that bring content to life. The emergence of OTT platforms, the rise of digital media-driven economies, and the establishment of modern multiplexes have opened up numerous avenues for the creation of employment. This industry has the potential of becoming a multi-billion-dollar industry in the near future by positioning Bangladesh as a global market player.
To help accelerate the growth of the post-production industry, the World Bank has launched “PostPro Talent Lab”- a 4-month workshop in partnership with Korea-World Bank Partnership Facility for the aspiring professionals in this field. The workshop will cover a range of post-production topics, particularly the technical ones such as editing, color grading and DI, sound design and mixing, and how it all relates to the creative vision of the content maker.
It is an exclusive opportunity for mid-career post-production professionals, such as: Colorists, Sound Designers, Editors, Directors, Cinematographers, etc. to enhance their skills and prepare themselves for the international market.
Program Highlights
- Under the guidance of local and international mentors, this workshop will delve into three vital fields of expertise:
- Track 1- Color Grading and DI (Digital Intermediary) Techniques
- Track 2- Sound Designing and Mixing
- Track 3- Editing and Post-production Supervision
- These fields are at the heart of cinematic post-production, presenting a unique opportunity for trainees to enhance their knowledge, build their network, and play a significant role in advancing the post-production industry of Bangladesh.
- Production of 3 original short films: The trainees will be actively involved in the production of three original short film projects. During the post-production phase, the trainees will have the chance to put into practice the skills they acquire during the workshop.
Workshop Details
- Duration of the workshop:Â 4 months
- Selection:Â Only shortlisted candidates will be selected for an interview by the expert panel of the World Bank. The panel will consider experience, expertise, interest, creativity, background and attitude to the post-production industry of Bangladesh as eligibility and selection criteria. Selection of the World Bank Expert Panel will be considered as the final selection.
- Participants:Â Emerging Bangladeshi talents with experience working in color-grading & DI, editing, post-production supervision sound mixing & designing.
- Instructors: Highly skilled international experts with a wealth of experience in servicing studios and independently produced feature films, as well as top international OTT platforms, with specialization in editing, sound, color grading & DI etc.
- Workshop modality:Â The workshop will be divided into 3 phases and will include lectures, masterclasses, case studies, exercises, training on software and hardware, site visits, creative excursions, career planning, and pitching sessions. The selected participants will work both individually and in groups to produce original short films. These films will be post-produced in local studios under the hybrid supervision of international instructors.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants may belong to any of the fields of expertise including- editing & post-production supervision, color grading, sound design & mixing, or directing and cinematography.
- A minimum of 3 years of industry experience within the last 5 years, whether full-time, part-time, or contractual, preferably in feature film, OTT Platform, television, film/advertisement agency settings, encompassing roles such as Color Grader, Sound Designer, Editor, Director/Assistant Director, Post-production Supervisor, Director of Photography, and/or Cinematographer is required.
- Selected candidates must commit to contributing actively to the local film industry after completing the workshop.
