Applications are open for the Sagarmatha Techfest Storytelling Competition to unearth captivating stories and encourage people to share their own narratives, with the primary focus being reshaping people’s perspective on storytelling.
Sagarmatha Techfest 2023 is a national tech festival, organized by undergrad students from Sagarmatha Engineering College and Sagarmatha College of Science and Technology. It showcases student projects, hosts around 20 pre-events, with one standout pre-event: the Storytelling Competition.
The essence of this competition lies in showcasing the multifaceted role of storytelling:
- Artists live through it.
- Writers earn their bread.
- Content creators engage audiences.
- Brands gain value.
- Individuals build their personal brand.
Prize Information
- Overall Winner: The competition’s top prize of NPR 10,000 goes to the entry with the most compelling story.
- Best Creative Visual Storytelling: Prize of NPR 5000 is awarded to the entry that excels in creative visual storytelling.
- People’s Choice: This category’s winner is determined by a combination of factors: 40% of the decision is based on engagement metrics such as likes, comments, and shares, while the other 60% depends on the quality of the narrative presented, with a prize of NPR 5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Storytelling Competition is open to individuals of all ages.
- Each individual should submit one storytelling entry only.
- If your story includes characters based on real individuals or features real people, ensure that you have obtained the required permissions. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
- Proper viewer discretion, including any necessary trigger warnings and disclaimers, should be added.
- Entries must not contain content that promotes hate, discrimination, or harm towards any individual, group, or community.
- There are no restrictions on the topic, but the language of the entry is preferred Nepali or English.
- Entries may be recorded using smartphones or any other equipment. Specialized recording equipment is not required.
Submission Guidelines
- Entries must be in an audio-visual format.
- Stories can be in either audio-only or visual-only formats, and you’re also welcome to submit stories that combine both audio and visual elements.
- The duration of the entry must be at least 1 minute but should not exceed 7 minutes.
- The genre is open and free for interpretation.(Open Theme)
- All entries must be unpublished works. Published entries will not be considered.
