Applications are now open for the Scholastic Kids Press, a prestigious award-winning international journalism program.
The Scholastic Kids Press is a prestigious, award-winning international journalism program in which each year, a select few of talented Kid Reporters of ages 10-14 are handpicked across the globe to be part of the international editorial team, reporting to the editor based in New York. The program has now been operating for more than 20 years.
Since 2000, Scholastic Kid Reporters have been writing “news for kids, by kids”, reporting on topics ranging from politics to entertainment at both a local and national level. This past academic year, Kid Reporters interviewed changemakers such as Malala Yousafzai, United States Poet Laureate Ada Limón, and even attended national events like The White House Christmas tree lighting. Their stories are published online and in issues of Scholastic Magazines+, which reach over 25 million students in classrooms across the country.
Since 2016, the Scholastic Kids Press has welcomed applications from Asia for bright and curious minds in the region. From rich cultural insights to news on the global health crisis, these stories have piqued the interests of readers, bringing Asia into the global conversation.
Recognised as an official member of the media, Kid Reporters will gain first-hand journalism experience through local and national news assignments, which lead to unique opportunities to witness important events and interview local icons.
