The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the Social Communication Support Program for the Portuguese Diaspora.
The Program is a measure by the Portuguese State that aims to support and enhance the media of the Portuguese diaspora, allowing them better capabilities, means to reach more audiences with relevant, current, immediate content and aligned with the national interests of the Portuguese diaspora. Portuguese language and culture.
It consists of a contribution – unique and non-refundable – to finance actions and projects, framed in the activity plan and budget, whose published or disseminated contents are exclusively or mainly in Portuguese and aimed at cumulatively, at least three of the following purposes:
- Constitute a means of valuing and disseminating the Portuguese language and culture in the foreigner;
- Promote the social, cultural, political and economic integration of Portuguese people in host countries;
- Strengthen the connection of Portuguese residents abroad to social, political, cultural and economic of Portugal;
- Consolidate bonds of solidarity between members of the community in which the Portuguese live;
- Promote equality, particularly gender, and citizenship in communities Portuguese.
Eligibility Criteria
- Media outlets from the Portuguese diaspora that cumulatively meet the following requirements can apply for support:
- Constitute a means of valuing and disseminating the Portuguese language and culture in the foreigner;
- Have headquarters abroad;
- Be registered as media outlets with the competent local authorities of the country in which they are based for at least two years;
- Do not have partisan purposes;
- The respective publications or content are exclusively or mainly issued or disseminated in Portuguese;
- Have a minimum circulation of 100 copies, in the case of periodical publications.
- Media outlets wholly or partially owned by foreign public entities are not eligible to benefit from the support program.
