Are you passionate about film? Can you tell a good story, create animation or inspire positive change? Would you like to make a short film about online safety? If yes, then submit your applications for the Childnet Film Competition.
The Childnet International is calling all teachers, educators, youth workers, media, art or drama tutors and anyone working with young people in the UK!
Theme
- 2024 theme: How would you make the internet a better place?
- They’re looking for films made by young people that inspire their friends and others to create positive changes in online spaces! If they’ve got something original to say about creating a better and safer internet, then they’d love to know about it! Remember films should be both entertaining and educational.

- Primary Film Category
- Win filmmaking equipment for your school or youth group and connect young people aged 7-11 with film industry experts at the awards ceremony in London!
- Secondary Film Category
- Win filmmaking equipment for your school or youth group and connect young people aged 11-18 with film industry experts at the awards ceremony in London!
Benefits
- Films selected for the finals will feature on the Childnet website and the UK Safer Internet Centre website, as well as being shared via Childnet and UK Safer Internet Centre social media channels.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Childnet Film Competition is open to all young people within the UK only. There is a separate competition for international entries.
- All films entered into the competition must be overseen by a supervising adult to ensure the film content and copyright terms have been adhered.
- Schools or youth groups can enter more than one film so long as the participating children for each group are different.
- Each group in the Primary and Secondary categories can be up to 8 people, including those behind the scenes.
- All film entries must be no longer than 2 minutes. This time frame must include title sequences and any credits.
- All films entered into the Childnet Film Competition must feature appropriate, non-offensive content or language.
- Childnet reserves the right to change the prizes from those advertised for those of an equivalent monetary value.
