Stept Studios is thrilled to announce an open call for submissions for the 2024 Stept Film Fund, inviting passionate and talented filmmakers to submit proposals for short documentary films.
This fund will support filmmakers who demonstrate a commitment to storytelling and offer a unique vision for exploring compelling narratives through short documentaries.
Funding Information
- Selected filmmakers will receive financial support of up to $20,000 to assist in the production of their short documentary film. Selected projects are eligible for mentorship and guidance throughout the production process, up to $5,000 in rental credit at Vault Rentals, finishing services at Lockt Editorial, and high-quality music, footage, and images from their partners Musicbed, Filmsupply and Stills. Finally, once completed, support with film festivals, promotion, and distribution on Stept channels will be provided.
Criteria
- Short Documentary Films: Proposals should be for short human-centered documentary films, with a duration of up to 20 minutes. These must be untold stories with no existing brand involvement.
- Self-Sufficiency: Filmmakers must be self-sufficient, with previous experience as non-fiction storytellers and having a proven track record of bringing their documentary projects to life.
- Originality and Innovation: They seek proposals that exhibit originality, creative storytelling, and a unique perspective on the given subject matter.
- Inclusive Storytelling: Stept Studios encourages filmmakers to explore a wide range of human experiences, and to ensure a diverse and inclusive representation of the stories they tell.
