“Wiki Loves Earth” Photography Competition (Nigeria)

This is the fifth time Nigeria will be participating in the contest and it would be held during 1 June — 31 July 2024. In the first edition and second edition, over 1000 quality images were uploaded by participants in Nigeria. Everyone is welcome to get involved, whether as a participant (photographer), organizational volunteer, or both. Join them to contribute free-licensed images of natural heritages in Nigeria.

Award Information

• 1st Prize: NG 150,000
• 2nd Prize: NG 100,000
• 3rd Prize: NG 50,000
• Other categories
  • Prizes will be awarded to the best 2 images from each participating fan clubs and hubs
  • Prizes will be awarded to the highest number of contributions from each of the participated fan clubs and hubs
  • Top 10 contributors (by the number of photographs) will be rewarded with WLE T-shirt.

Competition Rules

• They try to keep the competition clean and simple to participate. There are only a few rules for photos to participate in the contest in Nigeria. Let’s quickly go through them. Every submission should be:
  • All entries must be your own work; do not manipulate original images and make sure that there is no visible watermarks.
  • All photos must be uploaded within June 1st to July 31st, 2024, to be eligible
  • All photos must be licensed under CC BY-SA license
  • Participants must have an active email account, if the organizers wish to contact
  • Captions and description are required
  • Do not forget to add categories to your picture as it will be helpful to everyone looking for your picture
  • Make sure that you are not uploading duplicate images.

Judging Criteria

• The jury will determine the winners of the local and international contest taking into the consideration the following criteria (in no particular order):
  • Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.);
  • Originality;
  • Usefulness of the image for Wikipedia.
