Unleash your creativity in a 60 to 90-second video that showcases how an inventor, creator, entrepreneur, or local community near you is shaping a better future for all with innovation, creativity, and intellectual property (IP) rights.
Purpose
- The World Intellectual Property Day 2024 Youth Video Competition (Competition) refers to a video competition that is open to private individuals or groups of private individuals on the theme of “With IP, they can dream of a better future, turn the ideas into reality and create a world where everyone thrives. WIPO aims to raise awareness among young people about the role that innovation, creativity, and IP play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to build the common future.
- Through the Competition, WIPO aims to raise awareness among young people about the role that innovation, creativity, and IP play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to build the common future. The Competition is also an opportunity to celebrate the inventors, creators, entrepreneurs, and local communities around the world whose innovations, creativity and use of IP rights are improving people’s lives and safeguarding the planet in line with the SDGs.
Competition Prizes
- First Prize: Digital equipment to the maximum value of CHF 5,000.
- Second Prize: Digital equipment to the maximum value of CHF 3,000.
- Third Prize: Digital equipment to the maximum value of CHF 1,000.
- The People’s Choice Prize: Digital equipment to the maximum value of CHF 2,500.
- The top 20 winning entries will benefit from training opportunities offered by the WIPO Academy.
Video Requirements
- Between 60 and 90 seconds.
- In MP4 format.
- Will bear no subtitles/captions.
- May include audio narratives in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.
- Audio narratives will be accompanied with a time-coded transcript in the relevant language.
Eligibility Criteria
- You or at least one member of the group must be aged between 18-34 years old on March 10, 2024, the closing date for entries. Participants may be required to provide, upon request, an official document to prove their age.
- You may enter one individual entry, or you may join with your friends and submit a group Entry, but you cannot do both. Only one entry per private individual or group is allowed. Groups may include a maximum of 10 participants, with at least one member of the group aged between 18 and 34 years of age. If you are submitting an entry as a group, you must include the details of all group members on the entry form.
- Employees or agents of WIPO, their close family members and anyone otherwise connected with the organization of the Competition are not eligible.
- If the participant(s) do not comply with one of the requirements contained in these Rules, their entry will be withdrawn as ineligible.
