The Democratic Media Institute (DMI), a Lithuanian non-governmental organization that supports the development of independent media is launching a program to support young Belarusian authors to help them create high-quality and sought-after media products capable of attracting the attention of a young Belarusian audience.
At the end of the program, participants will not only have the knowledge necessary to create media products, but will also be able to develop and launch their own media projects under the guidance of mentors. In addition, they will receive financial support for their creation and development.
Purpose
- The purpose of the program is to help young Belarusian authors develop and launch their own media projects on TikTok, YouTube or other video platforms. Projects can cover various topics, including entertainment and educational content, while remaining within the framework of socially significant topics for Belarus.
- The main objectives of the program are:
- Identify topics relevant to a young audience, as well as the needs of content creators (informational, organizational, technical and financial).
- Provide program participants with expert assistance in developing, launching and managing media projects through lectures, workshops, trainings and individual mentoring.
- To offer organizational, technical and financial support to participants for the successful implementation of projects.
Funding Information
- At the end of the process, 6 applications will be selected and their authors will become participants in the program, receiving mentorship and financial support. Each participant will receive support in the amount of 2,500 euros.
How will this program work?
- The program will consist of several stages:
- Series of lectures and master classes by experts. Participants will gain the necessary knowledge to create media products: technical (equipment, lighting, sound, shooting, editing), creative (basics of script writing, on-camera skills) and marketing (analytics, promotion). Each lecture and workshop will include both a theoretical part and question and answer sessions.
- Work on individual projects under the guidance of mentors. Each participant will have a personal curator to help create a pilot episode of the media product. In addition, participants can sign up for individual consultations with experts in each direction.
- Presentation of pilot episodes at an offline event. During the event, participants will be able to demonstrate their pilot episodes to experts and receive feedback. Special guests, popular content makers will be invited to the event, so that the participants can talk with them and ask them questions.
- Independent work on content. Each participant must create at least 9 episodes of video content. At this stage, participants may consult with their mentors several times. Before the start of this phase, participants will receive 50% of the planned financial support. The remaining 50% will be transferred after the completion of the episodes.
Eligibility Criteria
- Young Belarusians between the ages of 18 and 26 can participate in the program, regardless of their current citizenship. Previous video content creation experience is not required. The main condition is that the content should be relevant for the young Belarusian audience both within the country and abroad.
