The World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) is inviting applications from children and youth in the age category of 10 – 18 years and 19 – 25 years of all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, physical ability, or any other distinctions across India to participate in the photography competition.
The camera lens has the power to transcend words, capturing moments that evoke emotion, provoke thought, and inspire action. The YCC Photography Competition stands as a dynamic platform of significant importance in the global effort to raise awareness about climate change. The photographs to be taken by these young photographers will resonate powerfully with audiences worldwide, instilling a deep sense of urgency and responsibility that will cross linguistic and cultural boundaries. Additionally, these young photographers, skilled in digital technologies, will utilize digital and social media platforms to disseminate their message nationally and globally, engaging diverse audiences and initiating significant discussions about environmental awareness.
The conclave features a series of pre-event activities, including a youth photography competition, a two-day knowledge enrichment session aligned with TERI’s World Sustainable Development Summit 2025, and an exclusive educational excursion aimed at providing evidence-based learning to empower youth in combating climate change.
Award Information
- Winners will receive e- certificates, a chance to attend the Youth Climate Conclave- 5th Edition and have a felicitation during the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2025. Besides these, all shortlisted photographs will be published on social media platforms, and the 12 best photographs will be selected and published in the YCC 2025 calendar. Additionally, a display of the top 12 photos from both categories will be held via an Exhibition.
Eligibility Criteria
- Each participant is required to submit one photograph on the theme:
- Climate Action for the future we want!
- Entries can be submitted in the age categories as follows:
- 10 to 18 years
- 19 to 25 years
- Children and youth in the above category of all backgrounds, regardless of caste, race, gender, physical ability, or any other distinctions across India are eligible to participate in the photography competition.
- Participants are limited to submitting only one entry each. Moreover, for schools and colleges, there is no restriction on the number of students who can apply.
- Each photograph must be accompanied by a captivating tagline of no more than 15 words. Entries lacking title, description, and details will be disqualified.
- The following criteria would be used to judge the entries:
- Resolution
- Clarity of the photograph
- Meaningful and impactful
- Photographs will also be screened for plagiarism and directly eliminated if the case comes up.
- Photographs should capture the essence of positive climate actions in the country at individual, local, regional or national level.
- Participants are required to submit an original photograph that expresses their interpretation of the theme. The photograph should convey optimistic and meaningful messages and should not depict doomsday scenarios.
- Only high-resolution (2 MB or more) original photographs will be accepted. The photograph should be necessarily in JPG format with at least 200 dpi at 2,000 pixels.
- Photographs containing obscene, provocative, or objectionable content will not be considered for submission.
- By participating in the competition, the applicant asserts that both the photograph and its accompanying description are original creations, produced exclusively by the applicant, with no other individual or entity holding any rights, title, claim, or interest in either. Any instance of plagiarism will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant from the competition.
