Applications are now open for the Debunk Barbara Achermann Fellowship.
The Debunk Barbara Achermann Fellowship is thus yet another shot in the arm for the three year old platform in its pursuit of a different kind of journalism and storytelling for its growing audiences, simply guided by its every society deserves good stories mantra.
Funding Information
- A total of ten fellows will be selected from the public call out.
- Each of the fellows will receive a total of $1,000.
- On being selected, each fellow will be advanced $300.
- The remaining $700 will be paid upon finalizing of edits.
- A limited reporting budget may be extended to heavily reported stories.
What are they looking for?
- Pieces of nonfiction/reportage from across Eastern Africa (DR Congo, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania) those are big on storytelling.
- They accept memoir.
- In the rare occasions when they accept essays, the essay has to be truly rare.
- They may accept one or two pieces from outside Eastern Africa per edition.
